Dr. Laura D’Addese is cardiomyopathy and heart transplant cardiologist at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.  She earned her medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Niklaus Children’s Hospital.  Dr. D’Addese then pursued a pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio before hoping across the pond to specialize in heart failure and cardiac transplantation at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, England.

Dr. D’Addese joined the Heart Institute at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in late 2019 where she cares for patients with cardiomyopathy and those who have undergone a heart.  In addition to managing heart failure, Dr. D’Addese is experienced in caring for patients who require mechanical circulatory support as a bridge to heart transplantation and, sometimes, recovery.

Dr. D’Addese’s research interests are varied, and include improving patient quality of life post-transplantation and improving transplant longevity.  She is currently involved in several multi-institutional studies and was the recipient of an Enduring Hearts grant and Pediatric Heart Transplant Society research proposal acceptance in 2020.  Dr. D’Addese lives in South Florida with her husband and two cats.  She enjoys cooking, cycling, and kayaking.
