Dr. Jose Sandoval-Sus received his medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Bucaramanga (UNAB) in Colombia and soon after he joined Moores Cancer Center at the University of California San Diego as a postdoctoral research fellow in the research group of Dr. Thomas J. Kipps and Dr. Januario Castro, where he focused in phase I/II translational clinical trials in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). On 2010 he moved to South Florida and did internal medicine internship and residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital followed by a one year as internal medicine chief resident at the VA Hospital/University of Miami. Dr. Sandoval then moved to Tampa and completed a hematology and medical oncology fellowship at University of South Florida/Moffitt Cancer Center, where he also served as chief fellow. He is now an associated member of the department of malignant hematology and cellular therapy at Moffitt Cancer Center working at Memorial Health System (MHS) where he has recently be named directory of the CAR-T cell program. Dr. Sandoval’s professional and research interest are in patient-focused care of all hematological malignancies, with a special emphasis in both indolent and aggressive lymphoid tumors. He is also very interested in the design and conducting of early phase clinical trials, medical education and health disparities in malignant hematology.
