The treatment of complex orthopaedic trauma patients is challenging and there exists a significant variation in practice when it comes to the surgical treatment of musculoskeletal trauma. The consequence of practice variation and surgical care that does not meet the highest evidence-based standards results in a higher rate of infection, nonunion, need for revision surgery, poorer outcomes, increased hospital length of stays, and increased costs. Surgeons who care for musculoskeletal trauma patients at MRH, a state and ACS-certified Level 1 trauma center, come from different training backgrounds and have variable experience with complex orthopaedic trauma Objectives: 1. Cite current literature relevant to the treatment of complex orthopaedic trauma with the goal of identifying best practices and latest surgical techniquesves: 2. Review every fracture case performed at MRH and identify both best practices and any potential practice variations in the treatment of orthopaedic trauma 3. Discuss management of complex orthopaedic trauma cases and fracture management
