Overview

The ASCO Direct Highlights™ 2023 Miami Symposium is a summarized version of the ASCO Annual Conference made available locally to simulate attendance for those who may not have the resources or time to attend the national conference. MCI obtained in 2014 the first official license to conduct ASCO Direct Highlights™, giving oncologists the opportunity to increase their knowledge about cancer, improve their competence, and enhance practice performance and patient care. ASCO DIRECT HIGHLIGHTS will provide an evidence-based, state-of-the-art educational activity that will assist clinicians in making up-to-date, appropriate treatment decisions. One of the most important goals is to help the physicians to incorporate in their daily practices the latest and best of oncology care as presented and discussed every year in ASCO --the most important cancer meeting in the world with more than 37,000 people attending every year.


Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Review advances in clinical and translational cancer research with the information presented during the 2023 ASCO® Annual Meeting
  2. Evaluate the role of new diagnostic techniques and therapeutic approaches as applied to the care and management of patients with cancer
  3. Discuss the latest clinical trials that have influenced the changes in standards of oncology care both in the U.S. and globally
  4. Obtain a comprehensive and state of the art review of hematology, oncology, surgical oncology, and radiation oncology developments
  5. Implement new patient management and supportive care strategies or revise existing ones

  • MHS Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, Dietician, Dietician Tech and Pharmacy Technician General: $70.00
  • Non-MHS Physician: $250
  • Non-MHS Healthcare Professionals: $180.00
  • Residents/ Fellows/ Medical & PharmD Students: FREE
  • Industry Representatives: $300.00

Hotel Accommodations

Registrants should make their reservations directly with the hotel. To make your reservations contact central reservations at 1-888-717-8850, the hotel directly at 305-421-8600 or hotel's website.

 Reservations must be made by June 15, 2023 in order to take advantage of the event's rate.

Reservations received after June 15th will be confirmed on a rate and space available basis. Upon check- in, registrants should notify the Hotel Reservation Clerk of any changes to their stay so as to avoid early check out penalties. Parking

JW Marriott Marquis Miami offers discounted rates to the symposium’s attendees.

  • Overnight Parking - $45.00 (+tax) per car/night
  • Daily Valet parking - $27.00 (+tax) per car/day
  • Self-parking - $15.00 (+tax) with validation up to 12 hours and $40 after 12-hour limit   (Met 3 parking garage, next to Whole Foods Market on SE 3rd Avenue.)

Memorial Healthcare System is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Nurses and Respiratory Therapists
Memorial Healthcare System is an approved provider of Nursing and Respiratory Therapy Continuing Education. Contact hours will be awarded based on attendance each day.

Pharmacists and Technicians General
The ASCO Direct Highlights™ program has been approved for Pharmacist and Technician General CE by the Florida Board of Pharmacy coordinated through the Memorial Regional Hospital Pharmacy Department. Contact hours will be awarded based on attendance each day.

Dietician and Dietetic Technician 
The ASCO Direct Highlights™ program has been approved for Dietician and Dietetic Technician General CE by the Dietetic and Nutrition Practice Council coordinated through the Memorial Regional Hospital Food and Nutrition Services Department. Contact hours will be awarded based on attendance each day.

Physician Assistants: AAPA accepts AMA Category 1 Credits™ from organizations accredited by the ACCME.  You will be given a certificate for self-reporting.

Nurse Practitioners: AANP accepts AMA Category 1 Credits™ from organizations accredited by the ACCME.  You will be given a certificate for self-reporting.

Physical Therapists:
FPTA accepts AMA Category 1 Credits™ from organizations accredited by the ACCME.  You will be given a certificate for self-reporting.


Additional Information

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received in writing no later than June 18, 2023 will be refunded, less a 20% administrative fee. No refunds will be made on cancellations received after that date. Please send cancellation requests to [email protected]

Memorial Healthcare System reserves the right to cancel or postpone this program if necessary; in the event of cancellation, course fees will be fully refunded. We are not responsible for other costs incurred such as non-refundable airline tickets or hotel penalties.
