Overview

METHOD OF PARTICIPATION AND POST-TEST:
- By registration only. Click on the tab “Register”.
- Once registration is completed, please click on the tab "Material & Test" to launch the course. 
- At the conclusion of the activity, click on the button POST-TEST to continue. A grade of at least 80% and the evaluation are required to receive CME credits.

This module is designed to enhance awareness of the clinician’s role, scope of practice and care when administering and/or monitoring patients receiving procedural sedation. This module also includes a discussion of the clinician’s responsibilities in the event of an adverse reaction or a life-threatening complication.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Define the continuum of sedation
  2. Differentiate between levels of sedation
  3. Describe complications and high-risk factors of sedation
  4. Discuss methods of drug administration and specific agents
  5. List 3 potential complications of procedural sedation and describe the nursing interventions

Memorial Healthcare System is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
