Overview

Memorial Healthcare System will be hosting the 2025 Comprehensive Women’s Symposium with topics focused on hot topics in the field of OB/GYN. The educational objective of this symposium is to learn about recent advances in treatment & diagnosis in the field of maternal health.

Memorial Healthcare System (MHS) performs over 60% of the deliveries in Broward County and remains the leader for Obstetrics in the market. We have three Family Birthplaces throughout our system – Memorial Regional Hospital (MRH), Memorial Hospital West (MHW), and Memorial Hospital Miramar (MHM). We also have a world-class children’s hospital, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, with incredible sub-specialties that enables us to provide the families with comprehensive care for both mom and baby. Each of our facilities are equipped with a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit – MRH/JDCH is now a Level IV NICU, while MHW and MHM have Level III NICUs.

In 2019, the healthcare system began teaching the next generation of OB/GYNs by starting a residency program with 4 residents per year. Memorial has also made investments into women’s imaging through a partnership with Solis, recruitment of Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) physicians, and in 2023 Memorial Regional Hospital received Levels of Maternal Care verification at Level 4, the highest you can obtain.

 Registration Cost:

o   Physicians - $125

o   APRNs, NPs, Midwives, PAs - $125

o   Leaders (Managers, Directors) - $125

o   Nurses - $80

o  Allied Health - $100

o   Residents/Medical Students - Free*

* Residents/Medical Students must provide proof of residency or medical school status upon check in at the event.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Enhance clinical knowledge of OB anesthesia techniques - Participants will be able to describe current best practices and evolving trends in OB anesthesia management to improve maternal safety and patient experience during labor and delivery
  2. Examine the expanding role of nurse midwives in multidisciplinary care - Attendees will gain insight into how nurse midwives collaborate across care teams, contribute to maternal health outcomes and support low intervention birth options
  3. Review current evidence based management practices for placenta accreta spectrum patients (PAS) - Learners will be able to identify risk factors, diagnostic tools, and multidisciplinary approaches for managing PAS to reduce morbidity and improve delivery planning
  4. Explore the clinical and professional journey of OB/GYNs entering the workforce post-residency - Through a past resident lead case reflection, participants will be able to evaluate their preparation for their entrance into the workforce and learn how to support their successful reintegration into clinical practice in a private practice model
